Story by Heather McShea
The weather was perfect as KGUN 9’s Claire Graham joined us for the day, showing off the many adoptable dogs and introducing pets and their humans as they participated in the contests. Claire, along with Jacob Acosta—a regular musical talent at our Tucson Dog events—engaged in delightful banter that kept the day lively.
Attendees and their dogs, dressed in Woodstock-era costumes, gathered early to participate in the Costume Contests, hot dog bobbing contests, and other scheduled events. The prizes for the contest winners, generously donated by our vendors, covered the table on stage. The winners and runners-up were undoubtedly thrilled with their prizes!
Low-cost vaccinations and microchipping were provided by Pathway for Paws, and ASAVET. Dog food sampling was a popular attraction provided by one of our title sponsors, My Culinary Canine and it was a big hit. Another title sponsor, Tucson Veterinary Urgent Care, offered snacks from Ryann Davidsons’ Dough Knot Shop. Danielle Harris Studios showed off their studio artwork while Randi and Matt Gentry with The Drive Tucson, pitched in, in every way helping to ensure the day went smoothly. Last and definitely not least, a loud shout-out to Pima Medical Institute for contributing to The Tucson Dogs’ Adopt-A-Thons, in support of all local shelters and rescues.
It was a day of local celebrities! What a treat to have Claire Graham hosting the whole day. Erin Christiansen and Brooke Wagner joined in, judging contests and showing off their furry kids. Thank you, Randi and Matt Gentry (our current cover models) for helping out on stage, judging contests and volunteering to help set up and close down the event! I am humbled to be in such amazing animal-loving company.
The true stars of the day were the Rescues and Shelters bustling under the shade trees with their adorable, loving dogs available for adoption, all waiting to meet their new forever family. The parade of adoptable dogs is always my favorite part of the event. Rescues, you truly make the world a better place.
Many thanks to all of the wonderful vendors who came to support The Tucson Dog and all of the amazing rescues that come together every year to make Woofstock a major event for homeless animals, dog parents, and their dogs.
VOLUNTEERS!
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the volunteers who made this day a reality. Woofstock was a tremendous success because of your time and hard work. Your dedication has made a significant impact, and I truly appreciate each and every one of you.
