DOGTOBERFEST Adopt-A-Thon 2026: A Great Day of Friends, Dogs and Adoptions!

Story by Heather McShea
If you like dogs, great music, good food and a little canine chaos thrown in for good measure, Dogtoberfest 2026 was the place to be!
On Sunday, October 25, The Tucson Dog Magazine’s annual Dogtoberfest Adopt-A-Thon brought dogs and their people together for a day filled with fun, laughter, food, music and, most importantly, opportunities for deserving dogs to find forever homes.
This year brought a new location and a whole new backdrop as Dogtoberfest moved to the Udall Park Amphitheater on Tanque Verde Road. With its sweeping grassy area, amphitheater setting and Catalina Mountains in the background, it was a wonderful setting for a day devoted to dogs and the people who love them.
Hosted by Matt and Randi Gentry and the Southern Arizona Animal Food Bank, the event brought together animal lovers, rescue organizations, vendors and families for a celebration with a serious mission beneath all the fun: helping homeless animals find loving forever homes and supporting the people and organizations working every day to make that possible.
And there was plenty of Dog Fest fun!
The Drive Tucson kept the energy going with music and live radio coverage, while Matt and Randi brought their unmistakable enthusiasm and love of animals to the celebration. Claire Graham, our Celebrity Guest Host Extraordinaire, kept things moving from the stage and made sure nobody missed the action.
There were adoptable dogs meeting potential families, vendors to explore, food trucks for hungry humans, and plenty of four-legged and two-legged fashion on display. The costume contests gave dogs and their humans a chance to unleash their creativity, and Tucson dog people did not disappoint!
But beneath all the laughter, beautiful dogs and adorable costumes was the reason Dogtoberfest exists in the first place.
Every dog waiting for a home has a story. Some have been overlooked. Some have been through circumstances they never deserved. And some are simply waiting for the right person to look into their eyes and say, “You’re coming home with me.”
That is what makes a day like Dogtoberfest so special. It isn’t just an event; it is a gathering of people who believe animals matter and who are willing to show up, have some fun and help make a difference.
I am especially grateful to the vendors, rescue groups and volunteers who helped bring Dogtoberfest to life. From those who showed up early, stayed late and jumped in wherever they were needed, to the vendors who brought their businesses, talents and enthusiasm to the day, each of you played a part in making this event possible.
And a very special thank-you to Matt and Randi, and to Claire, for bringing your energy, time and love of animals to the celebration. I truly could not do it without you, and I am so grateful to have you as part of The Tucson Dog family.
A huge thank-you also goes to everyone who came out, brought their dogs, visited the vendors, cheered on the contestants, supported the rescues and helped make Dogtoberfest 2026 such a memorable day.
Because around here, we believe a great day is measured in wagging tails, happy people and, whenever possible, a few more dogs finding their way home.
And by that measure, Dogtoberfest was one heck of a doggone day!
